Support Groups

One feedback that we receive about our support groups is that it can be positive to gain perspective from other’s grief journeys through a loss similar to your own. That is why all of our support groups are topical in nature, with our most frequent topic being Loss of Partner/Spouse. The timing of the groups and their topics are determined by level of participants and need in the community, though we aim to run a group 3 times each year. Our support groups are held at Beth Donovan Hospice, in a safe and confidential environment.

The support groups are two hours long, and they run for 8 weeks on Wednesday afternoons from 3 pm until 5 pm. They are facilitated by Beth Donovan’s Grief & Bereavement counsellor, and are a time to receive educational materials about grief, to share your experience, and to hear from others. Though everyone grieves differently, there is a kind of outline to grief and it can foster hope to see others at different points in their grief journey.

To demonstrate an interest in attending a group, or to find out more information, contact our Grief and Bereavement Counsellor, Erika DeSchiffart, at 613-258-9611 ext. 6. If there is not a specific group running at the Hospice at that time, Erika will provide you with other group referrals and/or take down your contact information and notify you of an upcoming group.
